West Oxfordshire District Council set the council budget for 2024/25 at a full council meeting on Wednesday 28th February.
The budget, which was put forward by the Lib Dem, Labour and Green coalition, outlines the councils spending commitments for the financial year ahead.
The budget passed by the coalition will result in a council tax rise and green waste permit rise.
Cllr Michele Mead, the Conservative Group Leader, said, "This budget is just another coalition budget hammering the good residents of West Oxfordshire seeing green waste permits going up and council tax going up again. All this whilst they waste money on buying a shopping centre and refurbishing the council chamber with taxpayers picking up the tab. It's time the council focused on delivering better services rather than wasting money on the coalition's pet projects."
The budget was passed at the meeting with the Conservative Group voting against the budget and the rise in council tax for the year 2024/25.
Cllr Liam Walker, the Conservative Deputy Group Leader, said, "This seems to be another overspend budget after years of the coalition going on a spending spree the bar charts for future years should be a concern to residents with the council on a pathway to going bust. Residents rightly expect the council to be funding key council services rather than having their money wasted on pointless pet projects."
